Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police have registered a criminal case against seven persons, including alleged former Hyderabad rowdy-sheeter Chinnaboina Shankar alias Amberpet Shankar, following a complaint lodged by a city-based builder who claimed he was threatened and coerced during a dispute over a real estate venture.
According to police, the complainant, Anjaneyulu, and another builder, Sambasiva Rao, were jointly involved in real estate development and apartment construction projects. A dispute reportedly arose after Sambasiva Rao allegedly sold two flats in a recent joint venture project without Anjaneyulu’s knowledge or consent.
The disagreement between the two builders escalated over the past few weeks, and Sambasiva Rao is said to have approached Amberpet Shankar seeking intervention and a settlement.
In his complaint, Anjaneyulu alleged that Shankar recently brought him to his residence against his will and pressured him to agree to a settlement. He further claimed that he was threatened with dire consequences and warned he and his family members would be killed if he refused to comply.
The complainant also alleged that he was forced to sign certain documents during the meeting. After managing to leave the premises, Anjaneyulu approached the Banjara Hills police and lodged a complaint on June 8, citing a serious threat to his life and the safety of his family.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Amberpet Shankar, Sambasiva Rao and several others. Police are currently examining the allegations, collecting evidence and recording statements from those involved.
