Banjara JAC wants public toilets built at Yellandu cross roads in Kothagudem

The Kothagudem Banjara Associations JAC has urged the district administration to construct public toilets at Yellandu crossroads. The junction serves thousands of passengers travelling between several towns, but commuters currently lack basic sanitation facilities while waiting for connecting transport

Kothagudem: The Kothagudem Banjara Associations JAC has urged the district administration to construct public toilets at Yellandu crossroads, a major transit point near Kothagudem.

JAC leaders staged a demonstration at the crossroads and later submitted a representation to the district Collector at the Prajavani meeting on Monday, requesting the construction of public toilets for the convenience of passengers.

Speaking on the occasion, JAC chairman Banoth Veeru Naik said thousands of passengers commute daily through Yellandu crossroads in Laxmidevipalli mandal. The major junction connects Paloncha, Bhadrachalam, Manuguru, Yellandu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Kothagudem and Khammam via National Highway 30.

Passengers often have to switch RTC buses or auto-rickshaws at the crossroads instead of travelling all the way to the Kothagudem bus stand, located nearly four kilometres away. Consequently, passengers often spend considerable time waiting for their connecting bus or auto-rickshaw at the junction, where a bus stop is located.

However, the lack of public toilets has become a problem for passengers. The district administration and municipal authorities should look into the issue and construct public toilets at the crossroads, Veeru Naik said.
