Adilabad: Former Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao and former Asifabad legislator Athram Sakku have joined the Congress. They were welcomed into the Congress by TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Rao was reportedly unhappy after being denied a BJP ticket in recent Parliament elections. He had won from Adilabad Parliament segment by a margin of 58,560 votes against the BRS nominee Godam Nagesh in 2019 polls and from Boath Assembly segment by contesting on a TDP ticket in 2004.
Sakku who was not fielded from Asifabad segment in 2023 polls was staying away from activities of the BRS for quite a long time. He had defeated the then TRS nominee Kova Lakshmi by registering a margin of barely 177 votes in 2019 Assembly elections. He then shifted loyalty towards BRS in 2019. He won from Asifabad Assembly segment for the first time in 2009.
