Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Friday said all basic amenities would be provided at the Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) across the State. Responding to a question raised by TRS MLC T Bhanu Prasad Rao in the Legislative Council on lack of amenities at the SROs, the Minister said necessary steps would be taken to ensure drinking water, toilets and other facilities at the existing SROs.
When TRS MLC Surabhi Vani Devi recalled her experience at the SRO office in Kavadiguda where she had to wait from 11 am to 3 pm to complete registration two years ago, the Minister assured basic amenities would be provided at the existing and newly-constructed SROs.
Explaining the apathetic attitude of rulers in undivided Andhra Pradesh towards Telangana, Prashanth Reddy said of the 141 SROs in the undivided State, only eight were located in permanent buildings before 2014. “This shows how Telangana was neglected in united AP,” he said. The Minister said administrative sanction was accorded to Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation to construct 87 SROs at a cost of over Rs 64 crore.
Of the 87, works of 39 SROs was already started and of them, 22 were completed and handed over to the Sub-Registrar Officer concerned while the work of the remaining 15 was in different phases of construction. “We are hopeful of completing the works at the earliest,” the Minister added. To another question on improving amenities at the high revenue-generating SROs in Moosapet and Sangareddy, the Minister responded positively saying that more facilities would be provided.
