Khammam: BC leaders on Thursday called on leaders of different political parties seeking support for the October 18 Telangana bandh demanding implementation of 42 percent reservation for BC castes.
BC leaders Bomma Rajeshwara Rao, Kurapati Venkateswarlu, Kathi Nehru, Mekala Suguna Rao, Perugu Venkata Ramana, Swarna Kumar, Bichala Tirumala Rao and others met leaders of BJP, BRS, TDP, CPI, CPM and ML parties, urging them to cooperate with the bandh.
They alleged that the State government’s faulty approach to implementing the BC quota was the reason for the court verdict on 42 percent reservation. They claimed the government was not sincere in providing 42 percent reservation to BCs and demanded that BCs be given reservations according to their population ratio.
BRS senior leaders Gundala Krishna and K Nagabhushanam, BJP district president N Koteswara Rao, TDP leader Kethineni Harish Chandra, CPM district secretary Nunna Nageshwar Rao, CPI district secretary Dandi Suresh, and CPI (ML) Mass Line leader Potu Ranga Rao said they would support the bandh.
