Hyderabad: The State government has extended reservations for all categories of Backward Classes in respect of reservation of seats in educational institutions and reservations in services including the percentage of reservation in posts and age concession of five years for the purpose of recruitment for a further period of ten years with effect from June 1, 2021, to May 31, 2031.
The concessions were extended to all categories of Backward Classes: BC-A-seven per cent, BC-B-10 per cent, BC-C-one per cent, BC-D-seven per cent and BC-E-four per cent. The concessions will be subject to review of lists of Backward Classes that may be suggested by Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes (TSCBC).
The reservation in favour of Backward Classes Group-E is subject to the outcome of Civil Appeal Nos.2628-2637/2010 etc., pending before the Supreme Court.
Necessary amendments to the general and special rules should be issued by the administrative departments concerned separately, said B Venkatesham, Principal Secretary to Government.
The government has extended concession following a letter from the Member Secretary, TSCBC stating that the existing concessions in regard to reservations to Backward Classes in employment and education will expire on May 31, 2021 and requested the government to take a decision for extension of concessions for a period of 10 years from June 1, 2021.
Similar extension was given with effect from June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2021.
