Hyderabad: Members from the BC, SC and ST JACs staged a protest at the DGP office here on Friday demanding justice for the victims in the Kummera village incident in Nagarkurnool.
BC Welfare Association national president and Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah charged that the police were protecting the accused in the Kummera incident.
Stern action should be initiated against the offenders and the Home Department has to take up the responsibility in delivering justice to the victims, he said.
“If justice is not delivered immediately, the BCs will launch a large-scale movement across the State,” Krishnaiah said, adding that the DGP should immediately intervene and provide reassurance to the victim’s family.
Later, parents of the two-month-old baby, who died in an alleged stampede at Kummera Mallanna temple last week, along with BC leaders met DGP B Shivadhar Reddy and said there was a threat to their lives.
They said that the accused were still roaming freely in the village and appealed to the police higher officials to ensure justice.
