Hyderabad: Hyderabadis G Trisha and Drithi Kesari have been felicitated at the BCCI Naman Awards in Delhi.
The two girls from the City were members of the Under-19 World Cup winning Indian team in 2025 in Malaysia.
Trisha, the leg-spinning all-rounder, created history at the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup by becoming the first player to score a century in the tournament’s history, making critics take a closer look at her in the world of cricket.
It has been a fairy tale journey for Trisha, whose cricket career began in Khammam before the family moved to the City. She represented Hyderabad under-16 team in the 2014-15 season and next year made it to the Hyderabad under-23 team. Later, with her consistency in domestic cricket, she represented South Zone before featuring in the 2023 Under-19 World Cup in South Africa.
The 20-year-old Trisha also represented India in the Emerging Team, India-A series against England, and the Emerging Asia Cup.
Off-spinner Drithi has been performing consistently well in domestic cricket this season with impressive hauls. In the under-23 national one-day Elite Group, she stood third with 14 wickets. In the seniors category, she is the No 1 bowler from Hyderabad, picking a five-wicket haul against Delhi.
The awards ceremony recognized excellence across international, domestic, and age-group cricket, highlighting India’s rich cricketing talent.
It may be mentioned that Shubman Gill and Smriti Mandhana took home the top honours as Best International Cricketers, with Gill winning the Polly Umrigar Award for the second time and Mandhana receiving the award for the fifth time.
The Lifetime Achievement Awards were given to Rahul Dravid, Roger Binny and Mithali Raj, who has been an inspiration for many young talents over the years.
Other notable winners included Harshit Rana (best international debut), N Sree Charani (best international debut – women), Smriti Mandhana (highest ODI runs) and Deepti Sharma (highest ODI wickets – women).
