Begumpet bomb scare: Police confirm hoax after intensive search at Met office

Hyderabad: A bomb hoax targeting the Meteorological Centre in Begumpet triggered panic and heightened security on Friday. The police after launching intensive searches at multiple locations across the premises confirmed the absence of any explosives.
As per information available, at the Meteorological Centre, authorities received an email warning of an explosive device inside the premises from an unidentified sender at around 6 am. The staff checked the email around 9.30 am and informed the higher authorities and local police.
The message prompted immediate evacuation of the staff from the building. Bomb disposal and dog squads were rushed and checked the premises thoroughly.
Begumpet police officials said the search was carried out as a precaution, and no suspicious material had been found. It turned out to be a hoax.
Meanwhile, the local police tightened security around the centre premises and conducted systematic inspections to rule out any danger. Local police are investigating the miscreants who sent the email.
