Mancherial: Bellampalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah consoled family members of a farmer who committed suicide along with his entire family following financial crisis at Malkepalli village in Kasipet mandal on Wednesday. He extended monetary aid of Rs 10,000 to them.
Terming the family suicide pact as unfortunate, Chinnaiah said that all support would be extended to the kin of the tenant farmer who was forced to end life recently. He stated that the government was implementing a slew of schemes for the welfare of the agrarian community. He cited Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and provision of seeds, fertilisers, power to the agriculture sector for free.
It may be noted that Janjirala Ramesh (50), a landless farmer and his wife Padma (45), killed their newly married daughter Sowmya (19) and son Akshay (17), before resorting to drastic step by hanging as they witnessed losses in growing cotton crop on March 25. In a suicide note purportedly written by Ramesh said he was depressed over his inability to repay debts around Rs 8 lakh.
