A viral video falsely linked to the AI 171 crash in Ahmedabad is actually from a previous Kathmandu accident

Hyderabad: A video of a man live-streaming the takeoff of a flight is currently going viral on social media.
The video is being widely circulated in the wake of the Air India disaster in Ahmedabad on Thursday, when flight AI 171 crashed into a hospital hostel shortly after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
However, the viral footage, which is being falsely linked to Thursday’s crash, is actually from an earlier plane accident in Kathmandu, Nepal.
In a now-deleted-post, Lalit Modi, the founder of the Indian Premier League (IPL), shared the video, wrongly claiming it to be from the AI 171 crash.
