Kothagudem: A TGRTC bus conductor working at the Bhadrachalam depot in the district was mowed down to death by the bus he was conducting at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.

V Abhilash, aged around 32 years, belonged to Vulvanoor village in Paloncha mandal in the district. He got the conductor job on compassionate grounds sometime back after the death of his father who had worked as a mechanic in the RTC.

According to officials, the incident occurred on Vijayawada Varadhi (bridge) during the late night hours on Tuesday while the bus was on its way to Bhadrachalam from Guntur. The bus driver, T Prakasham took a wrong route towards the Highway instead of going towards the service road. Alerted by the conductor, the driver stopped the bus and reversed the bus to change the direction. The conductor got down from the bus to direct the bus driver from the left side behind the bus. The driver by mistake hit the conductor who came under the rear tyre of the bus which crushed his head leading to his death on the spot.
The body was shifted to the Vijayawada Government Hospital for autopsy and the body was handed over to the conductor’s family members after postmortem. Krishnalanka Sub-Inspector of Police (traffic), Phaninder visited the spot and booked a case in connection with the incident.
