Hyderabad: Bhagat Singh Dhillon scored three goals as his side Punjab National Bank handed hosts South Central Railway their first loss in the Pool A match in the Gooncha 57th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament, at the SCR Sports Complex, on Thursday.

However, it was the hosts who struck the first goal with Aiyappa Pranjan netting in a field goal in the third minute of the game. But Bhagat Singh found the back of the net in the 20th minute through a penalty corner to draw parity. The Punjab National Bank took the lead in the 41st minute when Naveen Anil scored a field goal. Eight minutes later, the hosts found the equaliser through Pratap Lakkra who converted a penalty corner to draw level at 2-all.

However, Bhagat Singh then converted two penalty corners in a span of five minutes (54th and 58th) to win it for his side.

In Pool B matches, Indian Navy defeated Punjab & Sind Bank 1-0 while Indian Railways downed CAG XI 2-1.

Results: Pool A: Punjab National Bank 4 (Bhagat Singh Dhillon 3; Naveen Anil 1) bt SCR 2 (Aiyappa Pranjan 1, Pratap Lakkra 1); Pool B: Indian Navy 1 (Jugraj Singh 1) bt Punjab & Sind Bank 0; Indian Railways 2 (Pardeep Singh 1, Joginder Singh 1) bt CAG XI 1 (Chandan Singh 1).
