Hyderabad: Members of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Charminar) office on Tuesday against the registration of cases over the alleged violation of rules governing the use of DJ systems during the Ganesh festival.
Around 200 committee members gathered at the office and raised slogans against the administration, alleging high-handedness by the police in dealing with those booked for the alleged violations.
Karuna Sagar, a High Court advocate and committee member, said it was unfortunate that the law was allegedly being implemented differently for different communities.
“The police made those accused of violating the DJ rules stand during counselling as if they were rowdy-sheeters. The police cannot act in a partisan manner when it comes to the use of DJ systems,” he said.
The protesters questioned the police action and demanded uniform enforcement of rules governing the use of DJ systems during religious festivals.
