Karimnagar: The Bharat Bandh call given by 40 farmers’ associations against the three farm laws was peaceful in erstwhile Karimnagar district on Monday.

Petrol bunks, hotels, and other business establishments remained closed while managements of schools, colleges and other educational institutions had announced holiday well in advance in the wake of the bandh call, which was supported by Congress, TDP, CPI. CPM and others staged a dharna in front of all TSRTC bus depots early in the morning, preventing buses from coming out.

Opposition leaders were seen asking petrol bunks, shops and other business establishment owners to pull down shutters. Congress leaders led by Jagitial district president Adluri Laxman Kumar staged a dharna at Jagitial bus stand. Police arrested them and shifted to the police station.

Karimnagar City Congress president Komatireddy Narender Reddy along with other leaders staged a dharna at Karimnagar district headquarters bus stand. Cops arrested agitating leaders and shifted them to a police training center.

Bike rallies, dharnas and other protest demonstrations were also held across the district.
