Hyderabad: An innovative and creative learning activity titled ‘Math Art – The Magic of Straight Lines’ was conducted at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Atmakuri Rama Rao School, Hyderabad, encouraging students to explore the artistic side of mathematics.

The activity demonstrated that mathematics is not limited to numbers but is a world of patterns, symmetry, and visual creativity. Students created stunning designs using only straight lines, exploring concepts such as string art, geometric patterns, tessellations, parabolas, and spirals.

Conducted during Work Experience periods, the session enabled students to understand abstract mathematical concepts in a simple and engaging manner. The activity encouraged students to visualise ideas rather than memorise them, making mathematics more accessible and interesting. K Krishna Kumari, the teacher who guided the students, highlighted the importance of activity-based learning in nurturing young minds.
