Hyderabad: Nalgonda’s Mohd Bhashiq Imrose and Warangal’s Velpula Sarayu took the top honours in boys and girls categories respectively at the UCCF Telangana State junior (U-19) chess championship, on Monday.
Imrose scored 6.5 points from 7 rounds for the top position while Sibi Srinivas Einstein Redddy (6.5), Chdvilas Sai (6) and Sarath Chandar took the next three places. In the girls category, Sarayu scored 4.5 points while WCM Keerthi Ganga, Durga Karhika and A Sai Mahanthi completed the top four places.
The top four finishers in both categories will represent Telangana State in the upcoming national junior chess championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi.
