Mahabubnagar: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday assured that the Congress government would expedite the completion of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and ensure timely release of the required funds.
Addressing a public meeting in the Deverkadra constituency, Bhatti, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said that funds for rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) and land acquisition would be released immediately.
He stated that the pending works between the Narlapur and Edula reservoirs would be completed with the allocation of necessary funds. Citing an example, he said that when Rs. 70 crore was needed for the Uddandapur R&R package, the government sanctioned and released the amount without delay.
The Minister further claimed that all major irrigation projects in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district—Jurala, Koilsagar, Bheema, Nettempadu, and Kalwakurthy—were completed during the previous Congress regime.
Chandrababu Naidu opposed Telangana formation: Minister
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao alleged that the NDA government failed to deliver a separate Telangana state due to the objections raised by TDP chief and then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
He said that despite having a full majority in Parliament, the BJP-led NDA government could not fulfil the aspirations of Telangana’s people. Though it had announced the formation of three new states, it withheld approval for Telangana statehood, primarily due to opposition from Chandrababu Naidu, he claimed.
