Hyderabad: The new box office hit of Power Star Pawan Kalyan, ‘Bheemla Nayak’, has landed in controversy for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the potter community.

It is learnt that a YSRCP leader Mandepudi Purushottam, also the chairman of Shalivahana Kummari Corporation, has lodged a complaint with the Guntur Urban Superintendent of Police stating that a particular fight sequence in which actor Rana Daggubati kicks a potter’s wheel has hurt sentiments of the community.

Terming it objectionable and denigrating to the people belonging to the caste, Purushottam demanded that the scene be removed from the film and actor Rana should tender an unconditional apology to the potter community.

Meanwhile, fueled by positive reviews coming from critics and audiences, ‘Bheemla Nayak’ is continuing its stupendous run with good box office collections.

However, industry insiders feel that the big-ticket movie has lost a large chunk of money due to the policy adopted by the Andhra Pradesh State government. According to the trade pundits, as much as 65 per cent of the expected target (Rs 108 crore) is likely to be achieved by the first weekend run.
