Hyderabad: Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali expressed profound grief at the loss of precious lives in the fire incident at the scrap warehouse at New Bhoiguda in Secunderabad.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the site, Mahmood Ali said he was pained at the tragic loss of lives in the unfortunate incident and reiterated that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had announced an ex gratia of Rs.5 lakh each for next of kin of the deceased.
He also instructed Sanjay Kumar Jain, Director General, Fire Services and other officials to extend all help to the bereaved families and for repatriation of the bodies to their native place and to see that the injured were provided with the best treatment.
HM has a lucky escape:
Mahmood Ali had a narrow escape after a small portion of the shutter and a roof of the already damaged scrap warehouse collapsed during his visit to the mishap spot.
The incident occurred just a few minutes after he inspected the warehouse. He had walked barely 15 metres and was addressing the media when the damaged shutter and roof collapsed suddenly. There was nobody inside as the firemen too had doused the flames.
On hearing the sound, police personnel and the Minister’s security immediately moved him to safety.
