Hyderabad: The Gandhinagar police investigating the Bhoiguda fire mishap suspect the fire first broke due to an electric short circuit in the main switchboard at the entrance, which then spread to other parts.
Sources said the fire which first caught the combustible scrap material under the spiral iron staircase led to the explosion of the fire extinguisher and the diesel tank of the auto trolley and the LPG cylinder inside, thus intensifying the fire.
Meanwhile, the CLUES team which inspected the mishap site and collected nearly 10 samples indicate that faulty electric wiring of the switchboard could have led to the spark and subsequent fire due to the hot temperature in the warehouse.
With suspicion that the victims could be in an inebriated condition at the time of the mishap, which made it difficult for them to realize, react and escape from the fire, the police are probing that angle too.
However, the investigation officials have to largely depend on the autopsy reports of the victims and the statement of Prem Kumar, who was injured in the mishap. He is still undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.
The officials are also collecting documentary evidence, permissions pertaining to Shravan Traders for verification and are also writing to the electricity, fire, labour and other departments to furnish related documents.
Meanwhile, a video clip of the incident showing Prem Kumar jumping from the window and escaping the fire has become viral on social media. A stray dog too can be seen injured in the incident.
