Hyderabad: It’s not often that we see the Shahenshah of Bollywood get emotional on national television.

But that’s exactly what happened on this Friday’s episode of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC)’. Amitabh Bachchan was seen clearly moved in the presence of Olympic medallists Neeraj Chopra and PR Sreejesh, who were the special guests on the ‘Shandaar Shukravaar’ episode. The moment they arrived on the show, they received a warm welcome from the audience who were seen holding placards with their names and cheering them on loudly. Big B requested Neeraj and Sreejesh to let him hold their medals in his hands. Big B remarked that they were quite heavy and while he cannot win a medal for his country, he is glad he could at least hold them once in his lifetime.

It was in this year’s Tokyo Olympics that Neeraj became the first track and field athlete to win a gold medal for India at the Olympics. Neeraj became an overnight hero after he won gold in Javelin Throw. Sreejesh is the goalkeeper of the Indian Men Hockey Team that broke the 41-year old jinx by winning the bronze medal. Big B immediately got on the show a javelin and a hockey stick and got them signed by the real heroes of the country. Sreejesh, in turn, gifted the actor a jersey that was signed by all his other teammates who couldn’t be on the show.

During the episode, Neeraj spoke about how he ventured into sports because he was overweight. It was his uncle who suggested him to take up a sport to become fit, and when Neeraj saw his senior throw a javelin on the field, he instantly fell in love. On the show, the Olympian even taught Amitabh the basics of the sport, and the latter was mighty impressed by his flexibility. Meanwhile, Sreejesh recalled his initial days of struggle. While training, he was looked down upon by many because the Keralite couldn’t speak Hindi and was dressed shabbily. Amitabh got teary-eyed when Sreejesh told him that his father, a farmer, had to sell his cow to buy him his goalkeeper pad. Sreejesh and Amitabh even played some hockey on the show.

Neeraj taught Amitabh to deliver some movie dialogues in his native language Haryanvi and Amitabh poked fun at Sreejesh after looking at a picture of him dressed as a Punjabi. While Sreejesh is seen wearing a turban, when the picture was zoomed out we could see him wearing a lungi like a true-blue South Indian.

Neeraj and Sreejesh won Rs 25,00,000 on the game show and the duo donated the prize money to underprivileged kids who need phones and laptops to study, and also to support sports aspirants at the Inspiring Institute of Sports. Before leaving, the Olympians made sure they signed on the wall.
