Sangareddy: A couple of birders, who were on a birding trip to Singur dam in Sangareddy district, rescued a Monitor Lizard (Juvenile) trapped in a discarded fishing net on the banks of Singur dam constructed across river Manjira on Saturday.
The birders, Gopala Krishna Iyer and Ashish Kumar Pradhan, residents of Hyderabad, were shooting pictures of the birds walking along the water body, when they heard continuous noise from a heap of discarded net dumped on the bank’s of the project. Iyer and Pradhan found the Monitor Lizard entangled in the fishing net. After a 30-minute effort, they freed the Lizard from the fishing net and released it into the habitat.
The two birders have won praise from their fellow birders for their work.
