BIS Hyderabad conducts Manak Manthan on Labour Safety Standards

Sasi Kumar, retired Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories and Secretary of the National Security Council, Telangana Chapter, conducted a session on the urgent need for effective safety measures in industries, highlighting strategies to reduce occupational hazards.

Hyderabad: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch, conducted a Manak Manthan, focusing on labour safety at the workplace that aimed to emphasize the role of standards in safeguarding workers across industries and enhancing workplace conditions.

P.V. Srikanth, Director and Head, BIS Hyderabad, inaugurated the programme and stressed the importance of adopting safety standards to ensure the well-being of workers. V.V. Sasi Kumar, retired Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories and Secretary of the National Security Council, Telangana Chapter, delivered a session on the critical need for effective safety measures in industries and outlined strategies to mitigate occupational hazards.


Sattu Savitha, Joint Director and Scientist-D, BIS, presented an overview of Indian Standards (IS) related to labour safety. She elaborated on key standards applicable to industries such as steel, cement, and iron, and their role in preventing workplace accidents.

The event witnessed active participation from over 35 delegates, including officials from the State Government’s Industries and Factories Department and safety officers from large-scale industries. The interactive session facilitated discussions on practical challenges, success stories, and best practices in labour safety, providing valuable insights for enhancing safety protocols.
