BITS Pilani tops India in pharmacy rankings, 45th globally
BITS Pilani has secured the top rank in India for Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the QS Subject Rankings 2026, with strong performance across multiple disciplines, reinforcing its growing academic reputation and global presence in science, engineering, and management fields

Hyderabad: The Pharmacy and Pharmacology programme offered by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has been ranked 45 globally and No. 1 in India in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2026.
This year’s rankings reflect BITS Pilani’s broad and accelerating academic leadership, with seven subjects placed within India’s top 10. Overall, the institute achieved recognition in 13 globally ranked subjects, with 12 now positioned within the global top 500 across science, engineering, and management disciplines, a press release said.
Further, Computer Science & Information Systems recorded one of its best results, entering the global top 200 and No. 10 in India. Several other engineering disciplines also saw substantial progress.
Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering were both elevated to the 151-200 global range, now holding No. 8 and No. 9 positions in India, respectively. Chemical Engineering also improved, moving up to the 201-250 band globally and to No. 8 in India.
In the Natural Sciences domain, Mathematics improved to the 251-300 band and is now No. 11 in India, while Chemistry, Materials Science, and Physics & Astronomy all advanced into the 301-350 band globally. In India, Physics & Astronomy is now at No. 9, with Materials Science and Chemistry both ranked 12th.
Adding to this year’s expansion, Economics & Econometrics has debuted at an impressive 12th in India, alongside Biological Sciences at 19th, marking BITS Pilani’s expanding academic breadth, it added.
