Hyderabad: Telangana BJP leaders on Saturday requested Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to convey the demand of the people of Telangana for a comprehensive inquiry into the security breach incident during the recent visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab and all those responsible for the lapses be brought to book.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, a delegation led by State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, “As you are Constitutional head of the State, we request you to convey the collective anger and deep concern of the people of Telangana to the President and to the Ministry of Home Affairs in order that such incidents would not recur in the future,” the delegation said.
The delegation condemned what it alleged as “the attempt of Congress to compromise the security of the Prime Minister”. The incident proved that Congress could stoop to any level. Unable to match the Prime Minister in the development domain and unable to fight in the electoral arena, Congress masterminded this act. It has been in the DNA of Congress. The history, especially after Independence, holds testimony to its pusillanimity and petty-mindedness, the delegation said.
According to the delegation, there are reports that the Superintendent of Police (SP), Ferozepur informed the protesters that the Prime Minister was going to travel on the road in question. “How could the SP inform the protesting farmers about the PM’s movement?” Sanjay asked.
Modi enquires about Bandi’s arrest
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Saturday to know the reasons behind the arrest at Karimnagar a few days ago. It is learnt that Modi spoke to Sanjay over the phone for over 15 minutes to know the political developments in the State. Appreciating Sanjay for his fight against the State government against the GO 317, Modi was believed to have assured that the party would support him in future endeavours.
