Hyderabad: BJP national general secretary and Telangana party affairs in-charge Tarun Chugh met former Minister Eatala Rajender at the latter’s residence in Shamirpet on Friday to discuss the political scenario in the State.
Chugh’s meeting with Rajender assumed significance since the latter is believed to have decided to email his resignation from the State Assembly on Saturday morning if he fails to get an appointment with Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy due to Covid-19 situation. Rajender will pay tributes at Telangana martyrs memorial at Gun Park here before submitting his resignation.
Speaking to mediapersons, Chugh said Rajender “played a crucial role in Statehood movement” and he was striving for development of Telangana for the last 20 years. “Leaders like Rajender are required for the party to strengthen it in the State. The BJP’s objective is to ensure overall development of Telangana. We will welcome anyone who wants to strive for the development of the State,” Chugh said, welcoming the former Minister into the BJP fold.
Rajender will join BJP in the presence of its national president JP Nadda and others in New Delhi on June 14. Former MLA Enugu Ravinder Reddy and Zilla Parishad chairperson Tulla Uma will also join BJP along with Rajender.
Chugh, who has been here since Thursday, held a series of meetings with senior BJP leaders from the State and party general secretaries to discuss the measures to be taken to strengthen the party on all fronts.
Telangana State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar stayed away from the party activities as his gunman tested positive for Covid-19 while other senior leaders including former MP G Vivek, MLAs T Raja Singh and M Raghunandan Rao, former Minister DK Aruna and former BJP MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy attended the meetings.
