Suryapet: Huzurabad MLA Etela Rajender on Sunday said that BJP was only the political alternative to the TRS in the State as the Congress lost the confidence of people. Speaking at a media conference here, Rajender said the Congress had no scope to come to power at the centre and in the state in the next elections as it lost confidence of the people. Voting to the Congress in the elections was equal to voting for the TRS. Reminding that Telugu Desam Legislature Party was merged into the TRS, he said that same fate would be meted out to Congress Legislature Party (CLP), which means that voting to the Congress in the elections would be no use, he added.

He said that the state government failed to take up alternative measures even after the Centre made it clear that it would not procure excess rice. The State government also earlier accepted the proposal of the Centre to procure raw rice only for the yasangi crop season. Stating that the stocks of paddy of this crop season were piled up at the paddy procurement centers and farmers have been forced to stay there for more than a week, he urged the state government to speed up the procurement of the paddy from the farmers. He questioned as to why the state government was delaying purchasing of the paddy and payments to the farmers, if Telangana was a rich state.
