Karimnagar: BJP district president G Krishna Reddy found fault with the State government for imposing restrictions on the purchase of paddy. BJP Kisan Morcha observed Rythu Diksha at the collectorate office here on Monday, in protest against imposing restrictions on purchase of paddy.

Participating in the protest, Krishna Reddy said that except for making tall promises, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has done nothing to protect the interests of the farming community. The State government was creating troubles for farmers by putting restrictions on the purchase of paddy crops.

Kisan Morcha State vice-president Singireddy Krishna Reddy and district president Annadi Raja Reddy termed Telangana government as anti-farmer. State government, which had mounted pressure on farmers to sow fine variety paddy, was now imposing restrictions on cultivation of paddy. While 94 percent paddy is being cultivated in five states, only six percent crop is being produced in Telangana, they informed and surprised for imposing restrictions in the state wherein a less quantity of crop was germinated. They threatened to intensify agitation if the state failed to change its attitude. They wanted the government to spread the procurement process by establishing more IKP centers in the State.
