Bengaluru: In a major land grab allegation, BJP leader NR Ramesh has filed a detailed complaint with the Lokayukta, accusing Congress MLA HC Balakrishna, close aides of Yeshwanthpur MLA ST Somashekar, and several government officials of illegally acquiring 108 acres of government grazing land (Gomala) worth over Rs. 800 crore.
According to the complaint, the land in question lies in Survey Numbers 233, 234, 235, and 236 in Tavarekere Hobli of Bengaluru South Taluk. Ramesh alleged that 26 acres from this land—valued at approximately Rs. 165 crore—have already been encroached upon, with 8 acres worth Rs. 54 crore registered in the name of MLA HC Balakrishna’s wife, Radha Balakrishna.
The complaint states that forged documents were created to show the land being transferred to a third party, after which it was allegedly registered in Radha Balakrishna’s name at the Kengeri Sub-Registrar’s Office on April 3, 2025.
The original government Gomala land is part of Survey Number 158 in Kurubarahalli village within Yeshwanthpur constituency limits. The total area spans 130.29 acres, and the current market value is estimated at over Rs. 800 crore, with each acre valued at a minimum of Rs. 6 crore.
The complaint further accuses influential individuals of systematically encroaching on this land by fraudulently altering official records and dividing Survey Number 158 into four new numbers (233–236) to mask the illegal acquisition. It is alleged that these changes were made by misusing political influence over revenue officers and staff, particularly when the area was under the jurisdiction of Magadi Taluk.
Ramesh has urged the Lokayukta to take immediate action and investigate the alleged misuse of power and document tampering by those involved in what he termed “one of the biggest land scams in recent times.”
