Karimnagar: Senior BJP leader Basa Satyanarayana was arrested on Friday in connection with a case of allegedly sexually assaulting and cheating a woman activist of the party. Two town police arrested Satyanarayana and produced him in the court on Friday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the woman, Bojja Swapna, police registered a case under sections 376, 389, 506 r/w 34 IPC on October 6.
Swapna was also arrested and produced in the court in connection with an SC/ST atrocities case. Parvatham Mallesham, a native of Budigajangala colony in Rekurthy lodged a complaint against Swapa with Kothapalli police on October 6. Mallesham, in his complaint, alleged that Swapna had threatened and abused him by his caste name. Based on the complaint, police registered the case and arrested her.
