Adilabad: Several BJP workers and leaders were put under house arrest after their party called for laying siege to the Assembly alleging neglect of education, delay in welfare funds and lack of support for central schemes, in several parts of erstwhile Adilabad district on Monday.

The cadres were detained in Nirmal, and Bhainsa towns, Narsapur (G) and many other parts of Nirmal district. The agitating cadres raised slogans against the State government for neglecting education sector and for delay in release of funds for welfare schemes and failing to extend support to initiatives sponsored by the Centre. They said that electors would teach a lesson to the Congress in forthcoming polls.

The cadres alleged that the State was suppressing voice of the Opposition using arrests and registering cases against those who launch protests against its failures. They opined that the government utterly failed in implementation of welfare schemes and taking up developmental projects. They stated that the BJP was sanctioning funds to various schemes, but were not acknowledged by the State.
Meanwhile, similar arrests were witnessed in different parts of Adilabad, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. The activists and supporters of the party criticized the Congress for showing negligence in addressing challenges of the education sector affecting future of students.
