Hyderabad: Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a demonstration in front of the office of Prohibition and Excise department in Nampally here on Thursday criticizing the State government’s move to permit liquor shops beyond the permitted hours on account of New Year celebrations.
The women squatted in front of the office and raised slogans against the State government’s decision. The police officials later pacified the protestors and dispersed them.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA T Raja Singh found fault with the State government’s decision on the same issue. “When several other States are implementing restrictions and imposing night curfew, the Telangana government failed to take such precautionary measures,” he said, and demanded that the State government cancel numaish permission at the exhibition grounds keeping in mind the current Covid situation.
