Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday castigated the BJP leaders for promoting ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie and spreading false propaganda on social media platforms. He wondered if the BJP was concerned with the fate of Kashmiri pandits. “What stopped the BJP government at the Centre from taking concrete steps for their well-being rather than confining themselves to only sweet talk,” he said.

“What is this film Kashmir Files? If there is any progressive government, there should be irrigation files and economic files. Who wants Kashmir Files? BJP-ruled states are promoting the movie and are asking government employees to go to the theatres and watch the movie. What kind of politics is this? Who is responsible for the atmosphere in the country? Where do they want to take this country to?” he questioned, addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here.

The Chief Minister slammed the BJP for its failure to address issues faced by the Kashmiri pandits who migrated to different States across the country. “We too are concerned about Kashmiri pandits and want justice for them. The Centre should do something for them. But they are confining to only sweet talk,” he said.

“In Delhi, the Kashmir pandits say some people were doing this for votes and they did not get any relief to date. Instead, attempts are being made to trigger hatred. We should make people aware of the Kashmir Files and the real facts,” he stated.

Chandrashekhar Rao said the BJP was only marketing Hindu Dharma for votes and spreading hatred, but has no time for the country’s development. He stated that the BJP government at the Centre was spoiling the conducive and progressive atmosphere created in the country by the hard work of successive governments at the Centre over decades.

Reacting to the violence at Bodhan, the Chief Minister hit out at those who had sought to install a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He questioned whether the government should remain silent if someone wants to erect a statue at any place as per their wishes. “Who does not respect Shivaji Maharaj? But should we keep quiet with your actions? If Shivaji had been alive today, he would have committed suicide. Don’t play politics in the name of Shivaji Maharaj. If you want to erect any statue, take permission and then install,” he asserted. He dared the BJP leaders to speak about issues like GDP, unemployment, poverty and other issues, if they had any guts.
