Sangareddy: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) graduate constituency candidate for Adilabad-Karimnagar-Nizamabad and Medak, C Anji Reddy, has roped in an event management company for his election campaign activities, a move that has left BJP cadre and leaders feeling sidelined.
Adding to the woes of Anji Reddy, former ABVP State president and retired professor M Chenna Krishna Reddy’s presence in the fray is also going to have its say in the election as many BJP and ABVP leaders are now slowly aligning with Chenna Krishna Reddy.
BJP and ABVP leaders are actively participating in the election campaign meetings organised by Chenna Krishna Reddy across the four districts. A key Bharatiya Yuva Morcha leader told Telangana Today that the vote share Chenna Krishna Reddy was likely to garner would directly impact whatever chances Anji Reddy had.
Anji Reddy and his family members roped in a corporate event management company to oragnise his election campaign meetings. Since the cadre and BJP leaders were not given much responsibilities, the cadre decided to move along with Chenna Krishna Reddy in many places. The involvement of his family members, who had no political experience except for his wife Godavari, who is the Sangareddy district BJP president, has also irked the cadre.
Except for the Patancheru assembly segment, from where he hails, Anji Reddy is mostly an unknown face in the erstwhile Medak district, let alone Adilabad, Karimnagar and Nizamabad. Despite contesting the elections, Anji Reddy and his wife Godavari have never witnessed any electoral success due to lack of election strategy. He also changed parties multiple times in his political career, which is also expected to have an impact in the campaign.
Unlike Chenna Krishna Reddy, who was a party functionary throughout his career and also known as an educationist, Anji Reddy is just known as a businessman. The voters were of the opinion that he would only work to consolidate his business activities post victory rather than showing any concern for graduates.
The BJP candidate is purely banking on the Hindutva vote bank, besides depending on the image of four party MPs and MLAs in the constituency. The constituency has 3.55 lakh votes. The election will be held on February 27.
