Hyderabad: Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday clarified that BJP was not against rejuvenation and beautification of Musi river and that it just wanted the State government not to demolish houses constructed over 30-years on the riverbed.
Speaking to the media, Kishan Reddy said his party wants the government not to do injustice to poor and common man, who have built structures over decades on the Musi riverbed. “Government can take up the beautification of Musi and other developments,” he added.
They can even build the Governor and CM’s residence near Musi. We have no objection to it. Our concern is that the poor should not suffer due to the action of the government,”he said.
Expressing concern over Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s approach to the Musi riverfront beautification, the State BJP chief urged the government to address drainage issues before taking up Musi beautification. He suggested that the area could be beautified by constructing a retaining wall on both sides of the river.
