Hyderabad: TRS leaders lambasted the BJP for its doublespeak over the paddy procurement and demanded the BJP State leaders to refrain from playing with the lives of the farmers for their political mileage. They strongly condemned the attacks on farmers and TRS activists by the BJP cadre for staging demonstrations during the visit of BJP State president Bandi Sanjay in Nalgonda district, seeking clarity on paddy procurement in Yasangi season. They demanded the arrest of those involved in the attacks on farmers.
Rythu Bandhu Samithi chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said the State government has already started purchasing paddy cultivated during the Vaanakalam season. He felt that Bandi Sanjay was trying to obstruct the procurement process through his visit to the procurement centres. He criticised the BJP leaders for playing with the lives of farmers. While some BJP leaders drove a vehicle over farmers who were protesting in Uttar Pradesh, their Telangana counterparts were attacking farmers for demanding clarity on paddy procurement, he said.
Rajya Sabha MP Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, MLAs S Saidi Reddy and Gyadari Kishore stated that the BJP leaders led by Bandi Sanjay were resorting to rowdyism which will not be tolerated. They said while the TRS government had purchased over nine lakh tonnes of paddy till date, the BJP leaders were trying to create ruckus through their visits and create hurdles for paddy procurement. They demanded that Bandi Sanjay must get an assurance from the Centre for paddy procurement else refrain from taking up such visits which could trigger farmers’ protests.
