Visakhapatnam: BJP workers in Andhra Pradesh organised State-wide protests against the ban on Ganesh festival in public on Monday.
They stormed the Collectorates and Sub-Collectorates in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Ongole, Kadapa, Machilipatnam and other places.
In Visakhapatnam, BJP leaders carried a Ganesh idol on their head and barged into the Collectorate. They jostled with the police who tried to stop them and in the process, the police took some of them into custody.
State Sadhu Parishat president Srinivasananda Saraswati, and Viswa Hindu Parishad leaders also took part in the protests.
The protesters demanded the government to allow the celebrations directing the public to strictly follow all COVID norms.
