Siddipet: Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said they would raise paddy procurement issue in the Parliament to highlight the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) double standards.

The Medak MP, who participated in ‘Rythu Dharna’ in Dubbak on Friday, said the Union government was purchasing entire paddy from Punjab, but the same government was refusing to buy the crop from Telangana. When the Centre announced that it would not buy parboiled rice of Yasangi from Telangana, Reddy said the State wing of BJP was trying to mislead the farmers by motivating them to cultivate paddy. Saying that the BJP is trying to push farmers into a crisis for political gains, the MP said that State BJP president Bandi Sanjay had told the farmers that they would force the State government to purchase paddy.

Reddy said that they would hold protests in New Delhi to highlight the failures of the Union government on the issue. Protests were organised across Sangareddy, Siddipet and Medak districts. TRS MLAs and leaders participated in the Rythu Dharna programmes across erstwhile Medak district.
