Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday alleged the TRS and BJP were deceiving farmers on the paddy procurement issue.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, Revanth Reddy said the two parties were using New Delhi as a platform to play politics on the procurement issues. “Instead of resolving farmers’ issues, the two parties are indulging in dramas on the streets of New Delhi. These dramas that are being organised at the behest of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are aimed at diluting the image of Congress among people,” he said.
Revanth Reddy alleged that innocent farmers were losing their lives because of the politics of TRS and BJP. Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy and State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar are confined to only giving statements instead of resolving the issues, he said.
“Ministers from Telangana are speaking about the next crop season rather than sorting out the procurement issue of Yasangi season. The ruling party has failed to take concrete measures to bail out the farmers from the present crisis,” he said.
Congress MP and former TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who was also present during the media briefing in New Delhi, found fault with the Central and State governments for asking farmers not to go for paddy cultivation from the next season. Farmers cultivated paddy in 52 lakh acres last Yasangi, he said.
