Karimnagar: Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Y Sunil Rao on Sunday alleged that the BJP was trying to create unrest in Hyderabad with an eye on the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor’s post in the coming GHMC elections.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Sunil Rao said BJP considers itself as a big force after Dubbak by-polls, where it won the seat by a slender margin. Referring to local MP and BJP State president Bandi Sanjay’s comments that the saffron party would win 100 seats in the GHMC polls, Sunil Rao said BJP was trying to use social media platforms to create trouble in Hyderabad for its political gains.

Pointing out to the number of BJP corporators in the present GHMC, he said the party, which earlier had five MLAs from GHMC limits, now had only one. “Hyderabad has developed on all fronts only after formation of Telangana State. Besides IT companies, a number of reputed institutions like Amazon have invested in the city,” he said, adding that this was possible only because of the hard work of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and IT and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao.

Talking about Sanjay’s political drama before every election, the Mayor said the saffron party leader believes that BJP will definitely win the election even if he was admitted in hospital. The BJP leader was admitted to hospital before the Parliament election and won the seat.

Sanjay enacted the same drama before Dubbak by-poll. Though he was not arrested by Siddipet police, the BJP president went on a ‘fake’ deeksha in Karimnagar and was admitted to hospital for just 10 minutes, he said.
