Hyderabad: TPCC president A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday said the BJP State unit had reportedly constituted a committee to execute “Operation Akarshan” to lure leaders from other parties and gain a foothold in Telangana.
He charged that the move to constitute a committee comprising leaders who had defected from other parties clearly indicates that BJP has realised that it cannot expand on its own in Telangana.
“BJP just wants to survive by luring leaders of Congress and other parties into its fold and a make its presence felt in the State,” Revanth Reddy said in an informal chat with media persons at CLP office here.
The TPCC president alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was misleading the people in the name of English medium education. “If Right to Education Act is implemented in Telangana, then the poor students will get admission into 25 per cent seats in all private educational institutions,” he said.
“However, the State government is not implementing the Act while claiming that it was already providing KG to PG free education,” he said.
Meanwhile, AICC Secretaries Bosu Raju, Srinivasan and TPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman G Chinna Reddy met former MP V Hanumanth Rao here on Tuesday.
The former MP had written a letter to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi complaining that no action was being taken against former MLC Prem Sagar Rao and his supporters for their comments made during a party programme at Adilabad recently.
“I was humiliated on several occasions. Despite opposing the appointment of Revanth Reddy as TPCC president, in the better interest of party, I am continuing in the party. During the protest in Adilabad, Prem Sagar Rao humiliated me and the same was reported to TPCC Disciplinary Committee,” said Hanumanth Rao.
