Hyderabad: Highlighting the plight of the poor being deprived of their shelter not only by land-grabbers but also by the government-sponsored demolition drive taken up by HYDRAA, BJP leader and MP Eatala Rajender said on Wednesday the BJP fought for the cause of such victims and would continue to stand by them.

Addressing a media conference at the BJP State office, he pledged his support to protect the victims and fight against the land-grabbers. He narrated incidents where goons demolished houses of the poor, including the home of one Srinivas, who had taken a loan to build his house.

He explained that government and private employees bought 200 square yards in survey numbers 739 and 749 and established Ekashila Nagar. However, three individuals managed to create fake documents transferring some 47.25 acres in their names. In 1985, employees from various organizations purchased these lands and established the Ekashila Nagar colony with 2086 plots. Government and private employees bought 200 square yard plots each. However, in 2005, MA Raju, A Venkatesh, and A Vijayabasker created fake documents and registered 47.25 acres of land under their names and managed to get a mutation, he said.

Over 700 families who had built their houses in the place found themselves engaged in a legal tangle. The BJP leader said that when he along with the victims visited the field, they encountered goons who opposed them.

The BJP leader called for the restoration of plots and homes, urging the government to act against the real estate mafias and protect the rights of the poor. He asserted that the BJP would continue to stand by the victims and fight for justice. He also highlighted the need for proper implementation of the Land Regularization Scheme (LRS) to prevent such incidents in the future.
