Hyderabad: CPI General Secretary D Raja exuded confidence that BJP will lose elections in the five States and said the saffron party’s defeat would have an impact on the future politics of the country. There was a need for opposition parties and regional parties to join hands and fight against the BJP government at the national level, Raja said.

Addressing media persons here on Saturday, the CPI General Secretary warned that if BJP remained in power, it would pose a threat not only to the existence of Left parties but also to the entire political system. This would lead to fascism, he further said.

He charged that the Central government was usurping State governments powers and GST was a good example. The Centre even ignored the resolutions passed by a few State governments, he said citing the recent farm laws and termed them as pro-corporate.

“This year is going to be a year of fight against BJP government. After the successful fight by farmers, Central Trade unions were gearing up to protest privatisation of few PSUs next month,” he said. Regarding the recent security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab, the CPI General Secretary blamed the union Home Ministry for the situation. Prime Minister’s Office should respond on the issue and clarify things, he demanded. CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Rao and other senior leaders also spoke.
