Adilabad: Boath MLA Anil Jadhav on Tuesday came down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for targeting former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP). He joined a protest at Echoda mandal centre against what he termed misinformation being spread by the Congress on KLIP.

“Is it a sin to build projects? Is it a crime to provide water to agriculture fields?” Jadhav asked, accusing the Congress of blaming those who irrigated lakhs of acres of farmland. He alleged that Revanth Reddy, in collusion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had ordered a CBI inquiry into alleged irregularities in KLIP.

The MLA further claimed it was now clear that both Congress and BJP were conspiring against K Chandrashekhar Rao, who, he said, transformed Telangana by building KLIP, the State’s lifeline.

“Every inch in Telangana was built by Rao, who provided water to lakhs of acres through the project,” he said, adding that Revanth Reddy was criticising Rao only to help his political mentor Chandrababu Naidu.

BRS leaders including mandal president Krishna Reddy, MPTC Gadge Subhash, Sarpanch Pandurang, MPP Pritam Reddy, Narvade Ramesh, Sabir, Mahmud and Sirish Reddy also participated in the protest.

Similar demonstrations were held in Jainath, Utnoor and other parts of the district.
