Body of man killed by hunting trap goes missing in Kothagudem

Kothagudem: A man who went hunting wild animals in Penuballi forests in Chunchupalli mandal in the district had died of electrocution and his body was missing. The deceased, Mallela Sunil Kumar (48) of Sanyasi Basti in Kothagudem, his friends Lavudya Munnalal and G Venkaiah went hunting at around 1 to 2 am on Friday.

As they were walking through the forests, Venkaiah suffered an electric shock as he accidentally came in contact with an electric trap set up in the forest by some other hunters. However, Sunil Kumar who saved Venkaiah by pulling him away fell down on the trap. His accomplices, who found that Sunil Kumar was dead, went to the two-town police station and informed about the incident.


The town CI, Lavudya Raju and staff rushed to the spot immediately but they could not find Sunil Kumar’s body or the trap. Later in the day, Kothagudem DSP Venkateshwara Babu, one-town CI B Satyanarayana, CI Raju and staff resumed search operations. The search for the deceased man’s body lasted until evening hours to no avail. A case was booked at two-town police station and investigation was going on in connection with the incident.
