Hyderabad: Cheques worth Rs 2.37 crore were distributed to temple committee members belonging to various temples located in old city, Goshamahal and Karwan for Bonalu celebrations, here on Tuesday. The State government had sanctioned Rs 15 crore ahead of Bonalu festival to temples located in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits so that members of the temple committee make adequate arrangements for festival celebrations.
On Tuesday, the cheques were distributed by Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. He said that Bonalu festival represents the tradition and culture of Telangana for which the government provided adequate funds.
“This festival represents our culture and traditions, line departments have also lent their support,” the Minister said. “We are also doing 3D mapping to deck up the locality as part of Bonalu celebrations. As the State government has sanctioned adequate funds, I am wishing that the festival will be celebrated on a grand scale,” he added.
