The World Book and Copyright Day was celebrated by Akshara Vaagdevi International School on April 23 to pay tribute to the great literary personalities.

To bring out the splendour of the day, students from classes I to X took active participation in declamation by acting as great poets like William Shakespeare, Words Worth, John Keats, Lord Byron and writers like Ruskin Bond, R. K. Narayan, Charles Dickens, etc. and appreciated their contribution to the literary world. Students also spoke about Copyright Day.

Students were encouraged to read novels, learnt about the importance of reading, improved their language skills, vocabulary, imagination and enhanced their creativity. The day progressed along well and several students encountered the joy of reading literature that they enjoyed. Principal Vanaja appreciated students for their active participation. She emphasised that books are good friends, philosophers and guides and encouraged them to read every day.

During these trying times when we all have been confined to our homes and have had to limit our time spent outside, books have proved to be powerful tools to combat isolation, reinforce ties between people and expand our horizons, while stimulating our mind and creativity, speakers at the event said.
