Hyderabad: The topic of having different captains for different formats for Team India has been going on for quite a while. With Virat Kohli’s departure after the first Test in Adelaide gave Ajinkya Rahane a chance to lead India once again.
Rahane impressed everyone with his calm and composure on the field and more over delivered the good as India won the series 2-1 in Australia. With the result, the clamour for making him the permanent captain for the Test side has taken a front seat once again. But former Australian captain Brad Hogg feels Kohli’s removal will kill the culture in Indian team. “Virat Kohli bats better when he is the captain. I think if you change it, it would destroy the culture of that Indian team. It might affect Kohli’s batting. He wouldn’t want it to happen, but it will happen,” he said.
“Yes Ajinkya Rahane has done a fantastic job in the last three Test matches in Australia. He is cool, calm, and collective. He is quite decisive, and he doesn’t get agitated. He is a fantastic leader. But I will leave him as vice-captain because I think Virat Kohli leads from the front,” Hogg added.
