Brain-dead Andhra student’s organs give new lease of life to six patients

The family of brain-dead intermediate student Sai Srinadh from Andhra Pradesh donated his organs under Telangana's Jeevandan programme, helping save or improve the lives of six patients.

Hyderabad: The family of a 18-year-old intermediate second year student, Siddhani Prema Venkata Satya Sai Srinadh, from West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, who was declared as brain dead, has donated his organs to needy patients under the State-run organ donation initiative.

On September 17, Sai Srinadh was driving a four-wheeler when his vehicle was hit by another four-wheeler and he sustained serious injuries. He was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where he received emergency ICU treatment.

Despite the best efforts of doctors, his condition did not improve and doctors declared him as brain dead on September 24.

Sai Srinadh’s father, Siddhani Polayya gave consent to donate his organs including the kidneys, liver, lungs and corneas to help six needy patients under the Jeevandan initiative.

Jeevandan Telangana, in a press release, extended its gratitude to the family members of Sai Srinadh, whose noble decision has saved the lives of six individuals. With the organ donation of Sai Srinadh, Jeevandan has so far recorded 152 organ donations this year.
